Livy and her Principal's Award

Well done Livy for receiving a Principal's Award!! Mrs P showed everyone some previous students poetry books so that we got some ideas. Livy certainly lived up to the challenge of presenting a beautiful looking illustration to match the poem Buzzy Bee.

Claude Monet Inspired Art

Last Friday we learned that Claude Monet liked to paint water lillies. So we had a go at doing our own ones. We used pastels to create the lillies and lily pads. Some of us found it tricky to create the 3 circles for the lily pad. Then we all waited very very patiently while we took turns to paint green dye around the water lillies, and then blue everywhere else. They certainly do make a stunning wall display!

Completed Flower Show Art

The completed flower show art just looked amazing. Everyone worked so hard to produce their pieces of work. We dyed the backgrounds blue and green. Next we used paint to create a flower which we cut out and stuck on the background. Finally we painted bees which we stuck on with foam to look 3D. This photo shows our place getters. Macklyn and Dylan won 3rd, Fliss and Livy won 2nd and Katelyn and Jesse won 1st place. Come into our classroom and see them hanging up!

Have a Go morning

Recently all the Year 3 and 4 children went to the Edgar Centre to participate in the Sport Otago Have a Go morning. Everyone was mixed up into 6 groups and participated in hockey, soccer, rugby, gymnastics, basketball, and netball. It was a fabulous morning and all the children did Outram proud! Hector had a great time too!

Kindness Week

Last week was Kindness Week and our class participated. Mrs Paterson presented a powerpoint to the school at the Tuesday morning assembly, and then we looked closely at ways to be kind during the week.  We each wrote how we had been kind recently - there were certainly a lot of dishwashers being emptied to help mums and dads at home. Mabel did a random act of kindness and brought in eggs for Mrs P on Friday - they boiled up beautifully for tea! Thanks Mabel. We will continue to look at kindness over the coming weeks as part of our classroom culture.

Look who came to school last week!

We were so so lucky to have Fliss' dog come to visit us one morning before school. We could tell that they were a very spoilt dog and loved getting lots of attention! Thank you Fliss for sharing your special family member with us.

Assembly Merit Certificates

On Friday we had our first Friday assembly for the year. Sage and Violet both received awards for being respectful and caring. Both girls show that they are caring towards their classmates, and they are respectful as they let others get on with their learning. Well done girls, we are super duper proud of you!

We love Discovery Time

Room 4 are really enjoying Discovery Time. One activity was sandwich making today, and Katelyn has made an origami rabbit. Everyone who made the origami rabbit said it was quite tricky! We have been given some old watches and a phone, but we desperately would love some tools - do you have screwdrivers of varying sizes or hammers that you could gift to Room 4?

Going to Violet's house

This afternoon we were very lucky to be invited over to Violet's house to meet her animals. We were all really amazed at how little the baby rabbits were! Thanks Michelle and Violet for letting us enjoy your lovely back garden.

Our first Principal's Award

Hunter read so beautifully today in reading that Mrs P sent him to Mr Marshall for a very special Principal's Award sticker. Hunter was working especially hard on solving tricky words. Well done Hunter, we are so proud of you and your amazing reading. Keep it up dude!
